And rupee hits the bottom
The rupee continued its free fall against dollar and sunk below the 43 level at the inter-bank foreign exchange market here on Tuesday morning as the Reserve Bank of India kept away from the market following Government's hands off policy. On Monday, Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha had ruled out artificial propping up of the currency. However, by latenight, a chastened Sinha seemed to retracting his touch me not policy and said that the RBI would intervene to check the volatality in the rupee.
35 hurt in Shalimar Express blast, Advani in J-K
Thirty-five passengers were injured as the engine and nine bogies of the Delhi bound Shalimar Express got derailed last night, following a powerful bomb explosion at the railway track near Ria Morh between Bari-Brahmana and Vijaypur, 20 km from Jammu. Railway officials said the explosion took place at around 9.25 pm, blowing off a portion of the railway.
Centre may send another team to TN
There are doubts whether All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief Jayalalitha will attend the Coordination Committee meeting on June 27, following her vituperative outburst in Chennai yesterday against the BJP, and Home Minister LK Advani in particular. The BJP, however, is optimistic that she will come to Delhi as scheduled and matters will be sorted out then.

CBI denies bid to wrap up ONGC case
Attempts are on to close a preliminary enquiry conducted by the Anti Corruption Bureau, CBI, Mumbai, against four officers of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, with the investigating officer having recommended a closure last week. The preliminary enquiry was registered earlier this year against the four officers, all of deputy GM rank, for giving a positive report to a company, Treto Chem Specialities Limited, in respect of an ONGC tender for manufacture of 294.29 MT of water injection corrosion inhibitor.
