Mexico claw back
ST ETIENNE: Mexico clawed back a 2-2 draw with a last gasp goal from Luis Hernandez against the Netherlands today to make sure of qualification from World Cup Group E. The result confirmed the Dutch as group winners with Mexico as the second placed team. South Korea, already out of the World Cup, took Belgium with them after a 1-1 draw at the Parc Des Princes. Paraguay qualified for the second round after a 20-metre shot from striker Miguel Benitez set them on the way to 3-1 win over Nigeria in the teams' final Group D game last night. Spain thrashed Bulgaria 6-1, but it was too late to save them from going out of the tournament. Paraguay's surprise win meant Spain could not qualify for the second round while Bulgaria, semi-finalists in 1994, were also eliminated.Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
