Check terrorism in J&K
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, June 25: A city-based social worker, while expressing concern over infiltration of mercenaries and terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir, has urged the government to flush out terrorists and restore normalcy there.Jayant Lapsiwala, senior social worker of the city, in a letter written to the union government stated that while sealing of the border with Pakistan should be taken up with immediate effect, more security personnel should be sent into the state. He has asked the government to conduct house-to-house checks in the state to flush out militants and hand over the seized arms to either the local residents for their self-defence or the army. Lapsiwala said it was time to free the people of the state from foreign aggression and that the army and paramilitary forces should not shoot in self defence, but kill on-the-spot. He claimed that this was the general view of the people at large and that along with Pakistan, even China and the USA would learn a lesson. He applauded the government's stand to garner public opinion in favour of the country by sending diplomats to explain Indian's position. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
