The police swooped down on the family function organised by a leading city businessman and arrested those drinking liquor in the hotel lawns as well as the hotel staffers serving the liquor. The manager was also arrested.

According to official information, various hotel gadgets including the liquor bottle of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth about Rs 24,000 was also seized and brought to the Vadodara taluka police station. The accused nabbed under the prohibition law were presented before district court on Thursday and released on bail.

Senior officers from the local crime branch and a special squad carried out the raid under the supervision of District superintendent of police Shamsher Singh who remained present on the occasion, an official spokesman told Express Newsline.
