Chennai, June 26: Offering cheeky advice to AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha, Union Industry Minister and senior BJP leader Sikander Bakht on Friday asked her `to behave in a more mature manner'. He also categorically said that Article 356 would not be invoked against the DMK Government even if the AIADMK threatened to withdraw support to the BJP government at the Centre. In a brief chat with presspersons at Chennai airport, Bakht who is here to visit the Hyundai's car plant, said point blank: ``I am standing on Jayalalitha's soil...never mind...let her behave in a more mature manner''. His tongue-in-cheek remark came in response to a pointed query on the mounting pressure from the AIADMK supremo to dislodge the DMK government in the state.
On whether the BJP Government would dismiss the DMK Government if the AIADMK threatened to pull out of the coalition at the Centre, Bakht retorted, ``It does not matter''. He said the BJP government was `not willing' to use Article 356 against any state government thoughin places like Bihar the law and order situation was not satisfactory. ``We are reluctant to use Article 356 and we want to use it scarcely'', he asserted.
Responding to another question, the BJP leader, however, said the communal situation in Tamil Nadu and the country `in total' warranted serious action. Stating that some political parties in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere in the country were patronising fundamentalist forces, he said they were dividing the country on the basis of religion and castes for vote-bank politics. ``This has to be repaired'', he said.
Did the coming together of RJD leader Laloo Prasad Yadav and Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav pose a threat to the continuance of the BJP government? ``They are fighting to survive in politics'', he replied and went on to assert that there was no real alternative to the BJP government. He also made light of the proposed Congress-led alternative, saying, ``I don't think it is an alternative''. Asked about the stability of the BJP government,he merely said: ``My friends and colleagues tell that the government would be stable and no one can afford to pull it down''.
