Around 15 months later, an anonymous viewer of TV serial India's Most Wanted recognises the picture of the accused flashed on the screen and 45 minutes later the TV office receives faxed information about the latter's whereabouts. The Delhi Police is contacted and the man arrested.

The sensational murder case of prostitute Seema, 25, has finally been worked out. On March 27 last year, when there were complaints of foul smell emanating from a rented room in Bapa Nagar, police broke open the door to find a decomposed body of a woman. There were strangulation marks on the neck. The body was identified as that of Seema's.

Following the investigation, it was established that Anup Kumar Roy, 30, who hailed fromAssam, was a constant visitor at Seema's kotha and intended to marry her. However, Seema did not accept his proposal and was more interested in another visitor, Deepak.

Further investigations revealed that Kumar had served at the Army Supply Corps in Leh till 1993. He was court-martialled for attempting to steal a sugar truck.

Kumar then moved to Delhi and managed to get a job as a waiter in a Paharganj guest house. He quit this job soon to work for another hotel, Rama Deluxe, Karol Bagh. During this time he started visiting G B Road where he met Seema.

Kumar rented a house in Bapa Nagar and often had Seema over. He also became familiar with her parents who live in Shamshabad village, Agra district. However, when he learnt of Seema's affair with Deepak, he complained to her mother Usha. The two hatched a plan to implicate Deepak in a false case.

According to the plan Usha took Seema and Deepak to Shamshabad and Anup followed them. There Anup registered a case against Deepak at the Shamshabad policestation accusing Deepak of running away with his wife Seema.

However, his attempts to implicate Deepak failed when Seema rose to Deepak's defence and told the police that she was unmarried and was in Agra of her own free will. An infuriated Anup stabbed Deepak and landed himself in jail. However, he was later bailed out by the victim's mother and he returned to Delhi. Meanwhile, Deepak had recovered and Seema continued seeing him. On March 23, Anup reportedly called Seema to his Bapa Nagar house and strangulated her with her dupatta. He locked the door from outside, went to the railway station and boarded a train to Bombay.

An episode of the serial India's Most Wanted based on this murder case was aired on around 10 p.m. on June 16. At 10.35 p.m, a fax message arrived at the private channel's office giving details of the place where the accused was presently working. The television team immediately informed the Prasad Nagar SHO in Delhi who in turn informed the Ulhas Nagar police in Mumbai. The accusedwho was working as a steward in Dolphin hotel in Ulhas Nagar was arrested. The Central Delhi team went to Mumbai and brought Anup to Delhi. During his interrogation, Anup said he did not repent killing Seema and that he had done what seemed right to him.
