EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NASHIK, June 28: A 25 year-old-woman, arrested on charges of kidnapping, died in police custody at Lasalgaon on Friday. Narsu Narsaiyya Naik was arrested by the Lasalgaon police on June 21 on charges of kidnapping a 12-year-old girl, Sadhana Ramchandra Gangurde. The girl had been missing for a week and one of her earrings was found with Narsu. Suspecting foul play, Sadhana's mother, Shalu, filed a complaint with the police.Following this, Narsu was arrested. She was produced before the court in Niphad and remanded to police custody till June 25. Since there were no special arrangements to lodge an undertrial at Lasalgaon police station, she was moved to Chandwad police lock-up. On June 25, she was again produced in the court, and her police custody was extended till June 29. On this occasion, she was brought to Lasalgaon police station and since there were already four male suspects in the lock-up, she was kept in the head constable's room under the vigilance of a lady constable. In the early hours ofFriday, Narsu complained of giddiness and collapsed. She was rushed to the Nimgaon Vakda Primary Health Centre, where she was pronounced dead before admission.
