Flood situation grim in Assam

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Guwahati, July 3: The overall flood situation in Assam continued to be grim as fresh rains raised the water level of various rivers.

In north Lakhimpur district, 38 villages were affected by flood water, while the situation remained unchanged in Dhemaji district with rail and road communication remaining disrupted at various places, official sources said here.

The situation in the other affected districts also remained unchanged as fresh rains during the past week had resulted in rising of the water level, threatening to engulf fresh areas.

The flood situation in the capital city of Guwahati remained unchanged as several areas remained under water for the third day today after heavy rains lashed the city on Wednesday night.
