Meghe to raise the statehood issue in LS

NAGPUR, July 3: The newly-elected Lok Sabha member from Wardha, Datta Meghe, was felicitated for having got elected to the Lok Sabha for the third consecutive time, by the Congress (S) in a function, held at Gandhi Mazdoor Karyalaya here recently.Speaking on the occasion, former Rajya Sabha member and president of Maharashtra unit of Congress (S) S W Dhabe, said that Meghe had created history by getting elected to the Lower House for the third time in succession and that too from three different constituencies. The Congress (S) leader appealed to Meghe that he should take up problems of Vidarbha's development with the Union Government and solve them so that there would be quick agricultural and industrial development of this backward region. Responding to the felicitation, Meghe assured that he would take up the issues of Vidarbha in Parliament and ensure that these were solved. He also suggested that Dhabe call a convention of all MPs of Vidarbha on the region's issues so that MPs of Vidarbha couldunitedly fight on these issues in Delhi. Shyam Shende, ex-director of All India Radio (AIR), Harish Adyalkar, T B Golhar of Nagpur Union of Working Journalists (NUWJ), and Murlidhar Doifode, also spoke on the occasion.
