Adams sends England crashing

REUTERS
MANCHESTER, July 5: England were 152-2 at tea in their second innings on the fourth day of the third Test against South Africa at Old Trafford today.

England resumed their first innings in the morning in the hopeless situation of 162 for eight and, 26 minutes later, they were all out with Darren Gough (6) top-edging a sweep off Paul Adams to midwicket and Angus Fraser falling lbw to Kallis first ball.

Left-arm wrist spinner Adams' return of four for 63 was his best against England and the second best of his career in his 18th Test.

Despite the obvious determination of Atherton and Stewart, some intervention from the weather would appear to be England's best chance of securing a draw. It was cold, overcast and miserable all day with rain a constant threat.
