HYDERABAD, JULY 5: The People's War Group, the most dreaded naxalite outfit in the country, has established its links with other Marxist-Leninist groups across the globe with the aid of the Internet.As part of its campaign to muster international support, the outlawed extremist group has, in its document listed on a website, expressed support to various separatist struggles being waged in Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Assam, Mizoram and Manipur, according to an official note circulated at a Cabinet meeting here recently. The PWG, formed in 1980 and operating with 120 dalams (armed squads) in Andhra Pradesh, has been aggressively advocating ``the right of the states to secede from the Indian union'', the note said.
The problem of Left-wing extremism was affecting security not only in Andhra Pradesh but also in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in varying degrees, it said.
The PWG has established links with other terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir, North East and Bihar andalso with revolutionary groups of Nepal and other like-minded groups across the globe, it said. Detailing the extent of extremist problem, the note was circulated at the Cabinet meeting along with a special draft legislation to check naxalite activities in the State.
