The Congress mess
The Congress high command is making a right mess in Maharashtra. Bent on meting out punishment for the defeat of her personal nominee in the Rajya Sabha election and stymied in her search for culprits, Sonia Gandhi has hit out arbitrarily. She has seized upon the election to the Legislative Council of Arun Mehta, a former Congressman standing as an independent, and found fault with the process.

It's a discriminatory world order
The nuclear tests have posed a serious moral and practical challenge to the international nuclear non-proliferation norm, created and fostered through discriminatory treaties, ad hoc export controls and technology denial regimes. The Vajpayee government had been expected to pursue a more aggressive policy on the nuclear question. Most analysts had anticipated an overt declaration of nuclear weapons capability.

Private power dreams
It seems that almost a hundred years have passed since the Private Power Sector was opened up under the liberalisation scheme of the Government of India. This lengthy duration is due to the fact that so much has been discussed and so little has happened! (Independent power producers or IPPs perhaps feel that their projects will happen in their next life).
