NOIDA, July 9: Six persons and more than 20 sheep were killed when a truck collided head on with a tanker loaded with concentrated sulphuric acid early this morning in the Dadri area. The two vehicles overturned after the collision which caused a traffic jam for two hours.According to the information available, a truck (UP 78 1590) carrying sheep, going to Ghaziabad from Etawah, collided head on with a tanker (HYS 6885), loaded with concentrated sulphuric acid, parked at the road side near village Dhoom Manikpur around 3 am in Dadri area. The truck collided with the tanker crushing two men repairing the tanker. Both the vehicles overturned after the collision leaving four occupants of the truck dead. Only one person, who was sleeping at the top of the truck, survived the accident.
Fumes of the acid spilt on the road led to breathing trouble for bystanders. The matter was reported to the police immediately but the fire brigade reached the spot only after one-and-a-half hours after the incident and cleared the traffic jam.
Three of the deceased have been identified as Sarvesh Kumar, Rajbeer and Malyanil of Etawah district. The deceased have been identified as Saroj (30), Sushila (4), Dharamvati (48) and Kusumlata (48). Two others including the owner of the tempo are admitted in the Government hospital in critical condition.
