VADODARA, July 9: After targeting structures in the road margin and those blocking parking spaces, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation has now issued a public notice asking encroachers of town planning roads to remove constructions.The notice issued on Thursday by Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Administration) H S Patel ordered encroachers to clear the roads of offensive structures within a week on pain of action under Section 231 of the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation Act. Apart from recovery charges, defaulters will also face criminal action.
In the past one month, the VMC has swooped down on constructions on road margins and some unauthorised constructions in parking lots. A large number of people voluntarily demolished part-constructions disturbing the road margin after receiving the notices.
The Corporation had also taken action against shopkeepers who had put up hoardings which violated the development control regulations.
On Thursday, the VMC cleared 40 kachha huts which blocked the storm water drain between Vadsar and GIDC Industrial Estate in Makarpura.
TRANSFERS: In a bid to redress public grievances effectively and strengthen various zones of the VMC, Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria on Thursday transferred 156 technical and non-technical persons from the Corporation main office to the zones.
The employees will assist executive engineers, deputy engineers and assistant engineers who have been posted in four zones from May 25.The citizens have been asked to contact zonal offices at Nalanda water tank, Khanderao Market ground floor, engineering department of ward 8 in Nagarwada and ward number 10 office in Subhanpura for redressal of grievances.
PATCHWORK: In the past two days, the VMC has patchworked several of the main roads of the city. According to sources, nearly 100 dumpers of material has been used to level the potholes.
School Visit: Municipal School Board chairman Kishan Sheth and members of the Board on Thursday visited school number 14 in Babajipura and school number 15 in Panchalnagar to look into the prospects of constructing new buildings for them.
The Babajipura school building is in a dilapitated state and Board members and local councillors of the area, including Khodabhai Bharwad, have expressed serious concern over the danger to students.
The Board members held consultations with the trustees of the place where the building is currently situated. They are reported to have agreed to help the Board in providing alternative accommodation for students.
About the Panchalnagar School on the Ajwa Road, the members looked into the possibility of shifting the students from a private building into the one owned by Board.
Sheth said education of nearly 1,600 students was adversely affected as they were made to sit in small rooms.
