One dead
One Abdul Bhaguji Shaikh, 38, a resident of Bethi Colony at Mithi Khali in Limbayat, who tried to commit suicide by setting himself on fire a month ago, died on Thursday in the New Civil Hospital, doctors at the hospital informed the the Limbayat police. Shaikh had been admitted to the hospital with burn injuries on June 7, the police said. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered at the Limbayat police station and is being investigated.Vehicle theft
One Khodabhai Jairambhai, residing at Santoshinagar in Varachha told the Varachha police that his brand new Hero Honda motorcycle (GJ 5 AC 1930), was stolen from the parking lot of his apartment on Wednesday night. A case under section 379 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and is being investigated.
Theft
Two persons on a scooter tried to steal valves and other spares from the compound of the Essar company on Wednesday, a case registered in the Ichhapore police station said. One Kalyan Ganguly, a resident of the officers' colony at Essar lodged a complaint stating that Suresh Marathe and another unidentified person were trying to steal goods worth Rs 10,000 when they were spotted. Ganguly also informed the police that the two escaped leaving behind their scooter (GUK 694). The police have confiscated the vehicle and are investigating after registering a case under IPC 379 and 114.
Hit-and-run
A person was injured and sustained a fractured arm when the driver of an autorickshaw, while driving recklessly rammed his vehicle into him, the Salabatpura police said. Usmankhan Ismailkhan, who has been admitted to a private clinic, complained to the police that when he was walking on the road near the Udhna Darwaja Dargah, at around 8 pm, he was hit by a autorickshaw. A case under sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicle Act has been registered and is being investigated.
