Junior athletics
A four-member team including one woman will represent India in the seventh IAAF World Junior Athletic Championship to be held in Annecy (France) from July 28 to August 2. The team: Baiju Mirandi (800m), Sanjay Kumar Rai (long jump, triple jump), Navpreet Singh (shot put) and Sunita Rani (3000m, 5000m). The team will be accompanied by coach J S Saini and manager C Satyanarayana.Globe Trotters
Globe Trotters Cricket Club (including Indian players Surinder Khanna and Rakesh Shukla) will embark on a tour of Yorkshire (England) from August 17. Trials will be held at Tissot Academy, PGDAV College on July 17 at at West Delhi Academy (Saviour Convent School), Paschim Vihar on July 18 at 4 pm. Mobin dangal
A prize money wrestling contest, in memory of `khalifa' Mobin will be held at the Jama Masjid grounds on July 12 at 3 pm. The highlight of the competition will be a bout between Jagdish Kaliraman (son of Master Chandgi Ram) and Rajiv Tomar (disciple of Guru Hanuman). Several wrestlers from various `akharas' are expected to participate.
Aslam elected
Mohd Aslam Khan and Anandeshwar Pandey were unanimously elected president and general secretary respectively of the UP Olympic Association yesterday. N K Pandey was elected treasurer.
