Domestic pressures ground Tatas again
The Foreign Investment Promotion Board's (FIPB) decision to defer discussions on the clearance to the proposed Tata Airlines is a clear indication that the government continues to bow to pressure from other domestic players including Indian Airlines. This makes it the second time in two months that a decision on the Rs 1,475 crore proposal has been deferred on some flimsy ground or the other.

I was misquoted, says Giri
V Mohini Giri, chairperson of the National Commission for Women, said on Friday that she had been misquoted in a section of the press on the conduct of inmates of a working women's hostel in Orissa. She categorically denied having made any statement to the effect that 50% of inmates of a working women's hostel in Bhubaneswar were into prostitution.

J&K fit case for Central team: Mufti
Former Union minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has demanded an all-party fact finding team for Jammu and Kashmir to assess the security situation which he said has deteriorated sharply ever since the BJP-led Government assumed office at the Centre.
