Five dental colleges barred from making fresh admissions

K R BALASUBRAMANYAM
BANGALORE, July 12: Five Bangalore-based dental colleges in Karnataka have not been permitted to make fresh admissions for the BDS course for the academic year 1998-99.

The colleges are:

NSVK Dental College;
Babu Jagajeevanram Dental College;
Sevalal Dental College;
Maruthi Dental College and
Rajiv Gandhi Dental College.

The State Government decided not to permit NSVK, Babu Jagajeevanram, Sevalal and Maruthi Dental Colleges to make fresh admissions after they failed to produce relevant records. The Government had asked the four colleges to produce records issued by the competent authority (Dental Council of India, and the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry) on intake (intake indicates the number of students permitted to be admitted for the year).
