PUNE, July 13: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has set a significant condition for distribution of annual grants to social institutions and mandals.The tree authority has resolved that only the institution or the organisation which has planted a minimum of 50 trees would be eligible to seek the grant from the PCMC. The garden department has been authorised to verify if the prescribed number of trees have been planted. A meeting of all the organisations is scheduled to be held in this regard at the PCMC hall on July 22.
As part of the tree plantation drive, the PCMC will be distributing saplings free of cost to schools, educational institutions and government offices. Saplings will be provided at nominal costs to private institutions and industries.
Municipal commissioner Pravinsinh Pardeshi who is the chairman of the tree authority announced a competition for citizens, schools and other institutions for planting maximum number of trees. The outstanding institutions, schools or citizens would be eligible for getting cash reward and commendation certificates.
