BJP observers to select mayoral candidate

VADODARA, July 13: State BJP vice president Bhupendrasinh Solanki and secretary Amit Shah will listen to party councillors' views on Wednesday to reach a consensus on the names of the candidates for the posts of mayor, deputy mayor and standing committee chairman. In the VMC for 1998-99, it is turn for a woman mayor.Party leader in the VMC Maganbhai Desai told Express Newsline that the observers will listen all councillors on a ward-wise level at the Circuit House. They will also meet office-bearers of the party's city unit and the VMC. The election for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor will be held on July 20. Election for the Standing Committee chairman slated for July 18 is also likely to be postponed to July 20.
