IAF, Shahdara march on

NEW DELHI, July 13: Indian Air Force (New Delhi) and Shahdara Football Club registered victories over their respective opponents in group A matches of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) -- SAIL Senior Division Football League Chamionship here today.

I.A.F (New Delhi) defeated Delhi Students 2-0 to earn full points at the Ambedkar Stadium. Airmen's P. Darshan put his side ahead in the 11th minute while R.S. Rawat scored the second goal in the 29th minute.

I.A.F have collected 13 points from six matches while Delhi Students have just one point to their credit.

Earlier, Shahdara Club defeated Royal Rangers 2-1, after remaining goalless at interval. Shahdara's Sameer Jung put his side ahead in the 37th minute while Santosh made it 2-0 in the 40th minute. Royal Rangers' Deepak reduced the margin in the 43rd minute.

Shahdara Club have collected 12 points from seven encounters while Royal Ranger have three from six matches.

Meanwhile, the League sub-committee has rejected the protest lodged by Shahdara Club against Simla Youngs in the match held on July 3 on the ground that as per the laws of the game, ``the decision of the referee cannot be challenged and had also considered the supervising match referee Julius Ceaser's report in the match which was abondoned by the referee following refusal by Shahdara's players to continue the game'' and unanimously decided to award the match in favour of Simla Youngs.

At the Nehru Stadium grounds, New Delhi Heroes held former league champions Shastri Club to a goalless draw. New Delhi Heroes have 12 points from six matches while Shastri have 18 points after eight matches.

In another match at Nehru Stadium, Collegians held formidable Hindustan Club to a goalless draw to split points.

Collegians have two points from six matches while Hindustan have 16 after six games.
