Sensex falls as Asian markets dip
After the bullish trend in the last week, share prices suffered a setback on major stock exchanges as foreign funds once again unloaded following the slump in stock indices across the Asian region. Sensex crashed by 80 points to 3322.17 in the selling spree on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange also fell by 15.80 points to 964.35.

BSE to up Trade Guarantee Fund
As a precautionary measure to tide over payment crisis in the future, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has decided to double the contribution by member brokers to the Trade Guarantee Fund (TGF). The BSE has also decided tto increase the maximum amount of compensation payable under the Customers' Protection Fund to Rs three lakh from Rs 2.25 lakh.

ICICI to launch bond issue
Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India Ltd (ICICI) is offering the second tranche of `safety bonds' from July 18 to mobilise Rs 300 crore plus oversubscription upto an equal amount under its Umbrella Prospectus. The issue will close on July 28, 1998.
