MUMBAI, July 14: Former Indian Test cricketer Hanumant Singh and cricket umpire VK Ramaswamy have been selected as the International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee and umpire respectively for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from September 9-19.Hanumant Singh is one of the six match referees which includes justice Ahmed Ebrahim of Zimbabwe, Peter ven der Merwe of South Africa, Cammie Smith of West Indies, Siddath Wettimuny of Sri Lanka and former New Zealand Test cricketer John Reid, according to a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) spokesman.
Ramaswamy is one of the ten umpires selected to supervise in the Games where cricket will be making its debut, the spokesman added.
Other nine umpires on the panel are Javed Akthar and Salim Badar of Pakistan, Steve Bucknor of West Indies, Dough Cowie of New Zealand, Darrel Hair of Australia, Rudi Koertzen and Edward Nicholls of South Africa, Dave Orchard of England and Kandian T Francis of Sri Lanka.
