Australia down India in Super 8s

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17: Australia scored two wins on the opening day of the Super Max 8s Cricket Tournament today to strengthen their bid for a hat-trick of titles. Australia, champions in 1996 and 1997, humiliated Pakistan by six wickets, scoring 106 for one to Pakistan's 102 all out.

In their second match, the Aussies beat India by four wickets scoring 126 for four to India's 124 for four.

In other matches of the eight-a-side tournament, New Zealand beat South Africa by one wicket. South Africa scored 126 in their 14 overs. New Zealand passed the score of the last ball for a total of 128.

In the last match, South Africa beat Pakistan with two balls to spare. Pakistan scored 119 and South Africa replied with 120 for four wickets.
