Hindustan, Heroes post easy wins

NEW DELHI, July 17: New Delhi Heroes and Hindustan Club posted victories in group A matches of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA)-SAIL Senior Division Football League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium and Nehru Stadium respectively.

N.D. Heroes edged past formidable Indian Air Force (New Delhi) by a soliary goal to earn full points. IAF lads dominated the proceedings in the initial stages but failed to score.

On changing ends, N.D. Heroes had an edge over their opponents . The match-winner came in the 47th minute through substitute Umesh Bisht who sent the ball home after dodging past the Air Force custodian.

At the Nehru Stadium, Hindustan Club defeated Simla Youngs 3-1, after leading 1-0 at the internal through outside-left H.S. Rawat who scored in the 26th minute.

On changing ends, the winning team's H.S. Rawat again scored in the 42nd minute to increase the lead to 2-0 while Amarjit Singh Sahani completed the tally.

For Simla Youngs, Vijay Singh Rawat reduced the marging in the 54th minute. Hindustan Club have collected 22 points from eight matches while Simla Youngs have 15 points from eight games.

Former leage champions Shastri Club were held to a 1-1 draw by Shahdara Club. Shastri's Mohd. Atiq put his side ahead in 40th minute while Shahdara's Santosh Kajur equalised in the 49th minute. Shastri have 19 points from nine games while Shahdara have 13 points from nine.

At the Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi Students and Goans Sports Club were concerned to a goalless draw in a dull match. Students have two points from seven matches while Goans too have two points after seven matches.
