Chaudhary surprises Kishalay Basak

NEW DELHI, jULY 17: Unseeded Rohit Choudhary of Central Railway caused a major surprise by defeating third seed Kishalay Basak from South Eastern Railway 2-1 to enter the quarter-finals in men's singles in the 46th All India Inter-Railway Table Tennis Championship at Nagpur, according to reports reaching here today.

Seventh seed Debabrata Sana lost to Shivaji Dutta (ER) in the same round. In an earlier round, second seed Ganesh Kundu (ER), who was the architect of his team's victory in the team event, lost to Kunal Solanki (WR) in straight sets.

Top seed Bhushan Thakur (CR) along with fifth seed Nupur Santra (SER) moved into the last eight. Fourth seed Amrish Chatterjee (SER) put up a good fight against WR's Chirag Channa.

Sana also fought bravely before bowing out to Dutta. Solanki maintained his winning spree by defeating K Das (SER).
