Five arrested in Shalimar bomb blast case

JAMMU, July 18: The Jammu police claim to have solved the June 23 Shalimar bomb blast case with the arrest of five suspected militants and the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition from them.

Police said the arrested militants include Bachan Lal of Simbal Camp and a close associate of Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) chief Ranjeet Singh Neeta, besides Mehrajudin Bhat of Safakadal (Srinagar), a key member of the Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Front (JKIF), Mohammad Yusuf Ganai of Pampore, Mushtaq Ahmed Najjar of Baramulla and Basheer Ahmed Kandsoo of Sopore. They were nabbed near the Indo-Nepal border.

Giving details, an official said that five days after the Shalimar train blast, a routine patrol party recovered an abandoned bicycle on the National Highway at Bari Brahmana.
