BJP rejects China's claims on Aksai Chin

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, July 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today dismissed as "unfortunate and regrettable" the Chinese ambassador's claim to Aksai Chin and said parts of Jammu and Kashmir "under illegal Pakistani and Chinese occupation shall forever remain Indian territory."

In a statement here, BJP general secretary Venkaiah Naidu said "it is also regrettable that the attempt to gloss over Pakistan's illegal act of ceding Indian territory under Pakistani occupation to China continues."

He said such comments as made by the Chinese ambassador to India, Zhou Gang, can hardly be construed as conducive to good relations between India and Cina. The two Asian neighbours should have good relations and Beijing should avoid any action, verbal or otherwise, that can become a stumbling block. India has never said or done anything that can be described as "slanderous" or considered irresponsible, he said.

Naidu reiterated party's stand that India and China should engage in mutually fruitful discussions to resolvebilateral issues and settle the border question to India's satisfaction.
