Anil Chaudharyhits half century

CHANDIGARH, July 19: Anil Chaudhary's half century (60 runs) helped Nikkamal XI score a seven wicket win over Gymkhana XI, in the Monsoon Cup league cricket tournament at Sector 40 ground.

Chasing a target of 138 runs, Nikkamal got the winning total in the 21st over for the loss of three wickets. Anil who hit 60 runs off 32 balls including four sixer's and three boundaries was the main architect of the team's win in the match today.

For Gymkhana XI, Munish Arora's unbeaten knock of 78 runs went in vain as other batsmen were restricted by the rival bowlers. Anil, Gurpreet and Amritpal got two wickets each for the winners.

In another league match, Godrej Cricket Club beat Chetna Cricket Club by seven runs.

Brief Scores: Gymkhana XI, Mohali: 130 for 6 in 25 overs (Munish Arora 78 n.o., Gurpreet 2 for 14, Anil Chaudhary 2 for 20, Amritpal 2 for 35); Nikkamal XI: 141 for 3 in 20.2 overs (Anil Chaudhary 60, Dharamvir 34 n.o., Ravi 21, Munish Arora 2 for 27).

Godrej CC: 142 for 8 in 25 overs (Vikram Khajuria 38, Sanjay 22, Rajesh 18, Munish 3 for 21, Harpreet Chetna 2 for 24, Naresh 2 for 26); Chetna CC: 135 in 24 overs (Amit Uniyal 24, Jagmohan 21, Kamal 19, Naresh 2 for 12, Rakesh Jolly 2 for 15, Major Singh 2 for 18).

Triathlon meet
The fifth Chandigarh State triathlon championships in senior, junior and sub-junior categories in boys and girls section in individual events will be held on July 26 at 7 a.m., at Panjab University, Swimming Pool.

According to a press release, the participants will be shown the route on July 25 at 5 p.m.

Entries close with MS Dalal at PU, pool. During the meet, triathletes would be selected to take part in the forthcoming National meet.

Cricket trophy
Kumaon Sports Club, Chandigarh will organise Kumaon cricket trophy for under-19 boys from August 12.

Entry close on August 6, with Nanda Ballabh HNo-8H/9, Sector 12, PGI.
