Kaushik replaces Baskaran as coach
Maharaj Kumar Kaushik, the 1980 Olympian and 1982 World Cup forward, has been appointed as the chief coach of Indian hockey team which will participate in the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in September and the Bangkok Asian Games in December, this year. Ramesh Parameswaran will be his deputy.

Mumbai crash to Airlines' late charge
Indian Airlines unleashed a late blitz to outplay Mumbai XI 3-0 in the final of the 76th All-India Madras Cricket Club hockey tournament and lift the Murugappa Gold Cup at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium here on Saturday. The triumph also fetched Airlines Rs 60,000 while Mumbai XI took home Rs 40,000.

Top seed Sriram crashes out
The competitive mood at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana gained further momentum on the penultimate day of the State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament. Sriram found his match in the lesser fancied KK Rai. The 13th seed demolished the tournament favourite in a gruelling five setter with scores of 21-18, 17-21, 21-11, 14-21, 24-26.
