2 killed in van-car collision

MUMBAI, July 26: Two persons died and eight were injured, some seriously, when an ambulance and a car collided head-on at the Ovli Khind on Bhiwandi-Shahpur bypass Sunday evening.

Yeshwant K Shinde (45) and Dashrath Kulve (50), who were in the ambulance, were killed in the mishap. After the vehicles collided they overturned and rolled on their sides, the police stated. The private ambulance carrying patients from Narmada colony, Vitthalwadi in Thane was on its way to KEM hospital while the Fiat car was occupied by the family members of Deepak Vasani from Lamington Road headed for Nashik.

The injured, mostly women and from both vehicles, have been admitted to Thane civil hospital, LTMG hospital, Sion and KEM hospital besides a private hospital in Thane, police stated. The injured include members of the Shinde family while one was a patient and being taken to the KEM hospital, according to Narpoli police station in Bhiwandi under whose jurisdiction the accident took place.
