SURAT, July 26: Diamonds worth Rs 3.40 lakh were recovered from one Prabodh alias Munno Bhikhabhai Patel, (20), by the Katargam police.According to the police, Patel had confessed to his involvement in a house-breaking case last year, where diamonds worth more than Rs 3 lakh were stolen. He has been remanded in police custody till July 21.
A resident of Shovraj Society, Ashwini Kumar Road, Prabodh was taken into custody early on Wednesday morning, according to PSI K S Malek. Two of his associates Raju and Jayanti are still at large, the police said.
According to Malek, Prabodh, along with two others broke into a diamond workshop owned by one Nandlalbhai Khalabhai at Gayatri Complex on Katargam Road last year. Malek said he was hopeful that the arrest of the two will shed more light on a number of robbery cases. He said the accused would be produced before a magistrate on Monday, where the police will ask for his remand to be extended. He assured that the two absconding would be nabbed soon.
