Punjab Police win trophy

CHANDIGARH, July 26: Punjab Police beat Border Security Force (BSF), Jalandhar 2-0 to win the 47th B N Mullik Memorial all-India football championship at Pondicherry, according to information received here.

Punjab's Pachidar Singh, who missed two golden chances to net the ball in the first ten minutes of the encounter got the team's first goal in the 30th minute.

BSF made efforts to level the score, but fiumbled near the penalty area.

In the second session Devinder Singh consolidated the lead in the 25th minute of the second half.

Pondicherry Lt Governor Rajani Rai gave away the rolling trophy to the winners.
