Varsity teachers' agitation on
The South Gujarat College and University Teachers Association has told its members that the proposed agitation -- mass casual leave on August 4 and indefinite strike from August 11 -- to press for more wages was on.

Association secretary and member of national executive committee of teachers federation, D J Vasavada appealed teachers not be get misled by the news items carried by newspapers on Tuesday on revision in wages. He said the announcement of the revision was made three months ago, only the official notification was issued on Monday.

Road show
The first-ever road show on `Radio Trunking' in the State will be held in Surat on Wednesday at the Kapadia Health Club from 11 am to 6 pm. The show is being hosted by Smarttalk, a Motorola Bhilwara Joint venture. Radio Trunking is a new concept in India in wireless communication. It is already operational in the city and has about 80 users. According to All-India Marketing Manager of Smarttalk, Rudolf D'Souza, the new communication medium can be used to reduce costs, increase productivity and eliminate non-business communication bills.

No profit scheme
The Gujarat Civil Supplies department, as part of a state government scheme, will provide onions and potatoes at `zero profit zero loss' rates to consumers. The vegetables will be available at the district godowns in the city and the Valsad and Dangs vegetable depots. Inaugurationn THE inauguration of the new batch of Internet education, organised by the South Gujarat Productivity Council, will be held at 5 pm at Samruddhi, Nanpura on Wednesday. This will be followed by the council's annual general meeting, which will begin at 6 pm.

Conference
The Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad, hosted the VIth Conference of the Gujarat chapter of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) on July 25.

Saplings
Deputy Forest Conservator of the Social Forestry department of the district administration B D Kuber has said that saplings of different medicinal plants will be distributed free to people. Contact the forest office at Surat Fort, Chowk Bazaar or at 303, Shri Nidhi Apartments, Palanpur Patia.
