LS deputy speaker's poll on Aug 4
The election for the post of Lok Sabha deputy speaker would be held on August four clearing clouds of uncertainty over holding of the exercise in the current session of the House. Announcing the election schedule, Lok Sabha secretary general S Gopalan said nominations would be received upto 1200 hours of August three.

Topple Vajpayee-led regime, Sonia urged
The Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha (RLM) has invited all secular forces, particularly the Left parties, to join the newly-formed front for an early exit of what they termed as the "communal and fascist" coalition regime at the Centre. RLM leaders said the Congress should take the initiative to dislodge the Vajpayee Government and assured the front's full support to it in the endeavour.

CMs' meet to discuss Cauvery
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has convened a meeting of chief ministers of Southern States and Pondicherry in New Delhi on Aug 6 to resolve the Cauvery issue, Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi said in Chennai on Tuesday. The PM had sent a letter inviting him to participate in the meeting.
