Cuba's sporting pride and shame at Games
Cuban sporting heroism and humiliation were on worldwide display at the Goodwill Games with boxing legend Felix Savon winning and cyclist Ivan Dominguez defecting. Savon showed the form that has made made him a four-time World and two-time Olympic heavyweight champion, stopping Russia's Dmitri Gerasimov 28 seconds into the fifth round of their quarter-final bout.

Doctors fear Warne may not bowl again
Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne says he has been told by surgeons that it's possible he may never bowl again, but he hopes to be included in his state's cricket team at the start of the season.

Zagallo, aides get the boot
Brazil have fired World Cup coach Mario Zagallo and his entire management staff and expect to announce a replacement by the end of August. Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) president Ricardo Texeira praised Zagallo's staff's efforts at the recent World Cup, but said that the time was ripe for a change.
