MUMBAI, Aug 5: Bandra Packers defeated Village Amboli by a solitary goal in the MDFA-conducted Harwood football league at the St Xavier's ground, Parel, today.Village Amboli dominated the proceedings in the first 15 minutes, but they could not beat Packers' goalkeeper Roy Dias.
In the next 10 minutes, it was Packers who called the tune. But they also failed to beat the Village Amboli rearguard in which goalkeeper Dennis Creado stood out.
The match-winner came in the second half. Packers' Pascol Koli took a powerful shot at the Village Amboli goal. Goalkeeper Dennis Creado tried to punch away the ball, which hit the crosspiece and rebounded into goal.
BPT crushed Adarsh 6-1 in Division I-A. Newton Leitao (2), Shaun D'Costa (2), Simon Fernandes and Umesh Shetty scored for the winners. Naresh Solanki pulled a goal back for the losers.
A lone goal by Sunil Kanojia turned out to be the match-winner for MTNL against Bosco Strikers in Division III A.
