MUMBAI, Auug 5: The Swaminathan siblings made it to the finals of their respective age-groups in the Castrol Greater Mumbai District badminton tournament at the CCI courts today.While Don Bosco student Narayan set up a final clash with Zarir Warden following a 15-7, 15-5 win over Rishab Agarwal in the Midget boys' semi-finals, sister Girija will play Anagha Bhide in the final after breaking Pooja Todi's game 11-2, 11-5.
With Raksha Bandhan fast approaching, another brother-sister combination advanced in style. Top seeded Vikrant Patwardhan, runner-up last year, beat Anant Chavan 15-8, 15-0 in the men's singles quarter-finals while Asawari, seeded No 1 too, was a 11-4, 11-1 winner over Pooja Kotwani.
Asawari's opponent in the women's singles -- a depleted field of seven -- final will be Neha Gangoli. Gangoli made short work of Sampada Pai 11-0, 11-6.
The two are set to clash in the doubles final also, teaming up with Hufrish Nariman and Shilpa Shah respectively.
Shivani Mayekar, seeking adouble here, will play both the sub-junior and midget girls' finals. She meets Aditi Kulkarni in the first final after defeating Fatima Shah 11-5, 11-2 and plays Maitreye Nigvekar in the latter.
Maitreye pulled a fast one on second seed Ketaki Rajsinha 11-9, 5-11, 11-0 in a 40-minute semi-final encounter.
