Thackeray slammed by report, saved by CM
In the severest indictment yet by any authority of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, Justice B N Srikrishna has described him as ``a veteran general (who) commanded his loyal Shiv Sainiks to retaliate by organised attacks against Muslims'' during the January 1993 riots in Mumbai.
It's anti-Hindu, says Joshi
It was a quick return to the strident Hindutva rhetoric of 1992-93 for the Shiv Sena on Thursday. Rejecting outright all the political recommendations of the Srikrishna Commission, Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi lambasted the report for its bias against the Hindus.
Deadlock on Cauvery dispute continues
Talks among the chief ministers of Cauvery basin states with Prime Minister A B Vajpayee to discuss the framing of a scheme for the implementation of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's interim order yesterday were deadlocked. It has now been decided to resume discussions today.
