Which is why she was really looking forward to a break. This week, Krishna was to hold a fashion show in Dhaka -- a first for any Indian designer. But due to the flooding there her show has been postponed till September. "I was retailing through a store there and they asked me to do a solo show. I immediately said, `Yes'," says Krishna.

So it's back to her den which is full of things that put Krishna in a design frame-of-mind. "It does not have an office atmosphere. I like my space and I like to be able to move things around," says she. Her furniture is old as is the picture hanging on the wall -- picked up from Chor Bazaar. On the left, is a pinboard full of cuttings thatcaught Krishna's eye, over time. And in the far corner, is a bookshelf stacked with books on fashion and textile. A discman connected to speakers ensure that there is always music filling the room. Krishna works in sync to song and currently Celine Dion is a particular favourite of hers.

She spends most of her day here, and in the evening, leaves for her retail outlet on Napean Sea Road. But Krishna has a feeling that her den is soon going to have to shift. Later this year, she hopes to open a ladies couture section in her store -- and that will mean long hours on the shop floor, instead of the privacy of her den.
