Burns deaths
One Damsingh Shersingh, 35, a manual labourer residing at Shivnagar slum near Katargam, died in the Maskati hospital on Monday afternoon, where he was being treated since July 25 for burn injuries, the Katargam police said. According to the police, the victim was sleeping in his house when an oil lamp fell on him due to which he sustained burn injuries and was since being treated at the hospital. The police have registered a case under CrPC 174. In another case of burns death, Palak Pal (40) died on being admitted to the Mahavir hospital on Monday morning after being severely burnt. According to the Udhna police, Pal was working with Hiralal Paswan and Ramsingh Paswan when he received serious burn injuries from the welding pipe and died withing a few hours of being admitted to the Mahavir hospital. The police have registered a case and are investigating.

Extortion
The Udhna police on Monday registered cases of extortion against four people, who confined a person, who owed them money, and even bashed him up before releasing him. Jayanti Patel, a resident of Hrishikesh Apartments at Ved Road, told the Udhna police that he was forcibly detained by four people namely Raju Patel, Arvind Viharam, Joitaram Patel and Dhiraj Patel, all residents of Bhatena. The complainant told the police that the accused also made him sign four undated cheques worth Rs 1 lakh, and forcibly took away his motorcycle in return for the Rs 1.20 lakh that he owed them. The police are looking out for the accused, all of whom are absconding.
