ISLAMABAD, Aug 18: Pakistan cricket has once again plunged into a controversy amid reports that board Chief Executive Majid Khan walked out of a meeting which named Aamir Sohail as the new skipper while elsewhere former speedster Sarfraz Nawaz demanded dissolution of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) itself.Majid Khan, who has known to have differences with Sohail and was uncomfortable since the time Khalid Mahmood took over as the new chairman of PCB, walked out of the executive council meeting on Sunday. Khan was apparently protesting against the appointment of Azhar Zaidi as the manager and Aamir Sohail as skipper of the Toronto-bound Pakistan team for Sahara Cup next month and the inclusion of veteran Salim Malik among the 25 probables, from whom the team will be selected.
``I can't be party to what you people are doing,'' Majid reportedly said before leaving the top decision making body of the PCB.
According to a report, Majid strongly opposed the appointment of Zaidi, who is a supervisor in theIncome-Tax Department, runs a sports goods shop and cannot even converse in English, as the manager of the Pakistani team for Sahara Cup against India in Canada.
Majid also objected to the selection of senior players like Salim Malik in the list of probables saying ``there has been sufficient evidence showing their involvement with bookies''. PCB chief Khalid Mahmood, however, yesterday clarified that both Sohail and Javed Miandad have been appointed as captain and manager, respectively of the team for an indefinite period.
