30-year-old ends life
A 30-year-old man committed suicide by setting himself on fire on Monday night, a case registered in the Limbayat police station said. According to the police, Babulal Dinkar Barapatre, a resident of Udhna Rail Yard, ended his life due to reasons yet to be ascertained and was declared dead on admission to the New Civil Hospital. A case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been registered in the Limbayat police station and is being investigated.Abandoned
The Athwa Lines Police on Tuesday morning recovered a newly born baby from near the Bahumali building and registered a case under section 317 of the Indian Penal Code.
Fatal fall
One Vijaykumar Solanki, a 45-year-old plumber, died a few hours after being admitted to the Ashaktashram hospital on Monday evening, the Varachha police said. According to information, Solanki was fixing a leaking pipe of his neighbours house, situated on the second floor, when he slipped and fell, sustaining severe head injuries. He succumbed later in the hospital. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered at the Varachha police station.
Tortured
The Mahidharpura Police have started interrogating seven members of a family for allegedly torturing a married woman, who registered a case against them on Tuesday in the police station. The complainant, a resident of Ambaji Road area of the city, told the police that she was being tortured and harassed by her husband, her in-laws as well as other relatives by threatening to set her on fire on Monday afternoon. She further stated that the accused were demanding Rs 50,000, a television set, furniture and other belongings as dowry. A case under section 498 (a) and 506 (2) of the IPC has been registered.
