30-year-old ends life
A 30-year-old man committed suicide by setting himself on fire on Monday night, a case registered in the Limbayat police station said. According to the police, Babulal Dinkar Barapatre, a resident of Udhna Rail Yard, ended his life due to reasons yet to be ascertained and was declared dead on admission to the New Civil Hospital. A case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been registered in the Limbayat police station and is being investigated.

Abandoned
The Athwa Lines Police on Tuesday morning recovered a newly born baby from near the Bahumali building and registered a case under section 317 of the Indian Penal Code.

Fatal fall
One Vijaykumar Solanki, a 45-year-old plumber, died a few hours after being admitted to the Ashaktashram hospital on Monday evening, the Varachha police said. According to information, Solanki was fixing a leaking pipe of his neighbours house, situated on the second floor, when he slipped and fell, sustaining severe head injuries. He succumbed later in the hospital. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered at the Varachha police station.

Tortured
The Mahidharpura Police have started interrogating seven members of a family for allegedly torturing a married woman, who registered a case against them on Tuesday in the police station. The complainant, a resident of Ambaji Road area of the city, told the police that she was being tortured and harassed by her husband, her in-laws as well as other relatives by threatening to set her on fire on Monday afternoon. She further stated that the accused were demanding Rs 50,000, a television set, furniture and other belongings as dowry. A case under section 498 (a) and 506 (2) of the IPC has been registered.
