CALCUTTA, AUGUST 21: The West Bengal unit of Communist Party of India (CPI) has called for giving more Left orientation to the Left Front movement in West Bengal. The CPI, which has recently concluded its 20th State Conference in Malda, urged the like-minded parties to probe into the reasons for decline in the Leftists' influence in the state.Expressing concern over the decline of the Leftists' influence, the resolution adopted at the conference, stressed the need to expand and spread the Left movement in the state. To broaden the present Left movement in the state, the resolution has urged the LF to include other like-minded and democratic forces which have not joined the Left movement in the state as yet.
Talking to reporters here yesterday, the state CPI secretary Manju Mazumdar said that besides broadening the Left's base ``the LF must also identify priority areas in social sector, such as health, education, drinking water and electricity in the developmental programmes.''
