MUMBAI, AUGUST 21: A 26-year-old widow, suffering from AIDS, set her two children on fire and committed suicide in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi on Thursday, the Thane police stated.Suvarna Venkatesh Vadlokhanta, a resident of Balaji Nagar in Narpoli, was feeling depressed after her husband died of AIDS over a month ago. On Wednesday she poured kerosene on her son Sainath (3) and two-month-old male child and set them on fire. A while later she followed suit.
While the children died on the spot, Suvarna was rushed to a local hospital with severe burn injuries. She succumbed to burns on Thursday.
Police inspector B L Nimbhalkar is investigating the case, the police stated.
