MLA's bickering puts Karnataka BJP in a fix
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BANGALORE, August 22: A number of complaints lodged by BJP MLAs against their colleague S R Appachu has become a serious cause of concern for the State BJP leadership. Its silence on the matter has resulted in severe heartburn among other MLAs from the region.About a week back Appachu's colleague from Madikeri D S Madappa wrote a stinker to the party president that the former was a stumbling block in the party's efforts to contain ``illegal liquor'' business in the District. Madappa had staged a dharna against the illegal liquor outlets stating that the entire illicit business was in the hands of Suja Kushalappa, brother of Appachu and a leading excise contractor in the district. Unhappy over the unsavory development in the district which has elected three MLAs from BJP, the BJP leadership asked its MLA D V Sadananda Gowda of Puttur to go and bring in an amicable settlement. Even Gowda's intervention did not bring in any results. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
