NEW HAVEN, Aug 23: Goran Ivanisevic shook off an aching shoulder and continued his dominance over Yevgeny Kafelnikov, eliminating the defending Pilot Pen champ 6-3, 6-4 today with a dominating service game.
Ivanisevic leads the head-to-head series 9-2, and has beaten the Russian in their last seven matches. His powerful serve, clocked as high as 211 kph in the tournament, kept him in control through most of the one hour, five minute match.
The left-hander had a dozen aces to Kafelnikov's four and won 87 per cent of his first service points.
Ivanisevic will play number seven seed Karol Kucera of Slovakia in tomorrow's final. Kucera advanced by beating number four seed Richard Krajicek, 6-7 (8-6), 6-4.
Agassi holds the edge

The three-time defending champion lifted her level of play in the second set to pull out a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over the Swiss world number one.Arantxa Sanchez Vicario needed two hours and 23 minutes to overcome second seed Jana Novotna 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.
