Harbour train services disrupted
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, August 23: Services on harbour line were disrupted for over four hours when the pantograph of a local train broke down early on Sunday. The mishap occured on an Andheri bound 17 Dn local between Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and Masjid station at around 6.15 am. However, the local managed to reach the next station and the passengers were allowed to travel by the main line on same tickets. The railway authorities were directed to stop the Up local at Wadala junction and re-route other trains to their scheduled destinations.Central Railway officials informed that the damaged pantograph on the coach behind the motorman's cabin was rectified by 12 am and the services were restored to normal. Being a holiday, there were a fewer number of commuters, which helped avoiding the cascading effect of trains getting delayed. Meanwhile, services on the main line were also affected following a similar problem in a local. The pantograph of a Kalyan bound train failed to function at around 7.30 am. Therailway authorities informed that it was restored within half-an-hour, consequently leading to delays. Copyright © 1998 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
