Man killed in mishap A man was killed on the spot and his companion suffered serious injuries on Sunday afternoon, when the scooter, (GCX 150), on which they were travelling, was hit by a tanker, the police said. Thakorebhai Dahyabhai Patel (46) died on the spot and Dahyabhai Darji sustained multiple fractures when the driver of a tanker (GJ 5 V 9835), while driving recklessly, rammed his vehicle into the scooter and escaped from the scene, the police added. A case has been registered and attempts are being made by the Regional Transport Office and the police to nab the accused.Murder The Umra police have registered a case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, after a complaint was lodged stating that a youth was murdered with sharp-edged weapon on Saturday. One Naru Kishore Parida a 26-year-old youth, was found dead under a bridge, near Jogani Mata Mandir in the Gowalak Road area, by his brother, who lodged a complaint in the police station. The Umra police are investigating. Bodies recovered The Mahidharpura and Kapodara police recovered dead bodies of two persons, a man and a woman, on Sunday morning, cases registered in the respective police stations said. The Mahidharpura police recovered the body of an unidentified 30-year-old man, near the Vintex Mills Compound in the area. The body has been sent to the New Civil hospital for scientific examination. In another case, the Kapodara police recovered the body of an unidentified 60-year-old woman near the Magolgaam Khadi on Sunday morning. Cases under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure have been registered in the police stations and are being investigated.
