SURAT, Aug 23: An 11-year-old boy was kidnapped by unidentified people on Friday evening from the Nana Varachha area of the city, a case lodged by the parents in the Kapodara police station on Sunday afternoon said.Though Chhagan Virani, a resident of Tapi Darshan Society at Nana Varachha, complained to the police that his son, Dharmesh, was kidnapped, he added that he was not sure of the incident, as he was yet to receive any ransom note or message.
A diamond-cutter by profession, Virani told the Kapodara police that Dharmesh, a class IV student, was last seen at around 5.30 pm on Friday, when he was playing with his friends in the society. Both the parents searched for the boy for two days before they contacted the police.
According to the description provided by the parents to the police, Dharmesh was wearing a pair of black jeans trousers and a T-shirt. The parents further stated that the boy was dark complexioned and was three feet and six inches tall.
PSI K B Nimana, who is investigating into the case, has asked people having any knowledge about the boy to contact either the Kapodara police or the police control room.
Meanwhile a case of kidnapping under section 365 of the IPC has been registered by the Kapodara police.
